Blocked drains are messy, disruptive and, in some cases, urgent. But what makes the situation worse is when you call a plumber and they don’t follow through — or don’t fix the issue properly the first time.
That’s why property managers like Jessica Christiansen and homeowners like Sandra Crummer rely on Oceania Plumbing.
Sandra found Oceania after another plumber left the job half-finished. Jessica calls Oceania first — because she’s worked with plenty of trades over the years and knows the difference. Both now turn to Joe and the team whenever drainage issues appear.
Here’s why.
Fast response when others delay
Jessica Christiansen is a senior property manager at Emerald Lakes Residential. With a large portfolio and urgent maintenance needs, she doesn’t have time to follow up slow tradies or chase incomplete jobs.
“Recently we had a rental property where we had sewerage backing up out of a pipe at the rear of the property, Joe was there within an hour to the property, and he was able to immediately locate the source of the blockage, clear the blockage and provide me with a future plan of action on how we can resolve that and stop that from occurring again. His response time was incredible.”
She says she calls Oceania Plumbing because she can rely on them to handle the job from start to finish — without the usual back-and-forth.
“The process with Oceana Plumbing from start to finish is really simple, and I find the customer service fantastic. From me contacting Joe verbally if it’s an emergency, through to sending a work order with all of our clients contact details for him to reach out and arrange access. The service experience from start to finish is phenomenal.”
The plumber that shows up and finishes the job
Sandra Crummer, a respected mortgage broker and homeowner, found herself in a different situation. Her stormwater pit started overflowing while guests were staying in her granny flat — and the first plumber she called left her stranded.
“I had a problem with my plumbing in a granny flat at our home,” Sandra explains. “We had some people staying in the granny flat at the time, and as a result, they had their concerns as well.”
“There was a horrible odour coming out of the pits because the water was not being pumped away like it should have,” she said. “There was definitely some inconvenience, but also some pretty serious issues from a health and safety perspective.”
The plumber fixed part of the issue and promised a quote for the rest. Then stopped responding.
“I waited weeks. The quote never came through. And they’d already made me pay for the first half of the work. So we couldn’t move forward, and I was left stuck.”
That’s when she called Oceania Plumbing.
“I called Joe and he came out for me the same day because the matter was urgent,” she said.
“He told me we had to go away and source some parts — which he did that same day. Joe came back, had the problem solved, explained the work that he had done, and basically my issue was solved.”
Consistent communication and peace of mind
Both Jessica and Sandra emphasise the value of clear communication and follow-through. For Jessica, this means transparency with landlords — especially those based interstate or overseas.
“Once I log a job with Joe, my job’s acknowledged straight away. I get an email confirming when it’s booked in with one of our clients with a date and time frame. Following the completion of the job, I get a tax invoice with all the correct information on a detailed description, which makes a big difference for investors, particularly when they’re getting their statement at end of month and they’re reading tax invoices, they can actually clearly see what work was completed and understand what they’re paying for, which makes a big difference, particularly to our clients who aren’t local.”
“The other thing I love is that with Joe’s tax invoices, he also sends photos of the job, so whether it be from start to finish or the finished product, so if you’re not able to get there, you’ve got a real clear understanding straightaway of what the outcome was of that job.”
For Sandra, the follow-up from Oceania Plumbing didn’t just solve her problem — it saved her money.
“Subsequent to that, I received a quote from the first plumber, and as it turned out, that quote was $400 dearer than the actual cost of Joe’s work,” she said.
“So all in all, I was extremely happy with Oceania Plumbing’s work, the service, and the fact that Joe was such a nice person to deal with as well.”
Experience that earns trust
Jessica has worked with plenty of trades. She calls Joe first now — because he’s consistent.
“I’ve worked in property management for 21 years, and I’ve dealt with a lot of trades for investment properties, and I think finding a tradesman that you align with that has the same values and appreciates that a property is someone’s home and that it holds value to someone. And it’s not about just going in there to do a quick job and have it done, relying on Joe and his team when they go to a job, everything’s done to 100% perfect, you know, and that makes a big difference in Joe compared to some of the other local plumbers we’ve used in the past.”
Sandra agrees.
“Just knowing that I didn’t have to worry about, one, whether or not he was going to arrive, and two, the quality of the work — but also just knowing that I’m not going to be charged an arm and a leg for something — that’s huge peace of mind.”
“I cannot recommend Joe highly enough. At the end of the day, Joe makes me look good because I end up with happy clients. The feedback I’ve received from others who’ve used his services has been extremely positive.”
